The University of Iowa is gradually moving from the traditional paper routing process to a fully electronic system -- a process we refer to as eRouting.
eRouting provides a Workflow-based system for channeling grant applications, contracts, and related sponsored-project information through departmental, collegiate, and central administrative offices for review and approval prior to submission to an external funding source. We are adopting the system through a phased implementation that began in a single college and now extends to several colleges, centers, and units. Each phase brings feedback and refinements, resulting in an improved system suitable for extending to a broader research community. Campus-wide implementation is expected in the early part of FY 2012.
eRouting responds to a critical demand within our sponsored-projects community, facilitating the application process and collecting essential information on sponsored projects and those who propose and direct them. We encourage our community's input as we develop and transition to this electronic system, welcoming eRouting feedback at any point in this process.
