Rapid Assessment Post-Impact of Disaster (R21)
Rapid Assessment Post-Impact of Disaster (R03)
The Rapid Assessment Post-Impact of Disaster (RAPID) grants described in this funding opportunity announcement are designed to provide a limited sum of money for early assessment to investigators who intend to follow up with a full research application, using the preliminary data from this initial effort as a basis for their larger application. The Program supports research on psychological, physiological, biological, and behavioral reactions to emergencies, risk factors for developing prolonged mental health sequelae (including post-traumatic stress disorder) resulting from exposure to such emergencies, service delivery and treatment of victims, and effectiveness of programs designed to prevent mental health problems.

NSF Instrumentation for Materials Research (IMR)
http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=5452&org=DMR&from=home
The IMR Program supports the acquisition and/or development of research instruments that will provide new capability and/or advance current capability to: (1) discover fundamental phenomena in materials; (2) synthesize, process, and/or characterize the composition, structure, properties, and performance of materials; and (3) improve the quality, expand the scope, and foster and enable the integration of research and education in research-intensive environments.
Also supported under this program:  the Instrumentation for Materials Research - Major Instrumentation Project (IMR-MIP) program in the Division of Materials Research provides support for the design and construction of major instruments costing more than $2 million at major US facilities.

NSF - Infrastructure Management and Extreme Events (IMEE)

http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=13353&org=NSF
Focuses on the impact of large-scale hazards on civil infrastructure and society and on related issues of preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery.  The program supports research to integrate multiple issues from engineering, social, behavioral, political, and economic sciences.  It supports fundamental research on the interdependence of civil infrastructure and society, development of sustainable infrastructures, and civil infrastructure vulnerability and risk reduction.

NSF Hazard Mitigation and Structural Engineering (HMSE)

http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=13358&org=NSF
Fundamental research on the design and performance of structural systems and on new technologies for improving the behavior, safety, and reliability of structural systems and their resistance to natural hazards such as earthquakes and technological hazards.
