Revised Rates for F&A and Fringe Benefits for Sponsored Project Budgets (Effective July 1, 2019)

The revised rates for F&A and fringe benefits, to be used for sponsored project budgets, are now available. These rates will be in effect starting on July 1, 2019, and will remain in effect through June 30, 2022.

The University of Iowa's F&A cost-reimbursement rates (the rates for reimbursing institutional overhead and other expenses associated with sponsored projects) are determined through extensive calculation and formal negotiation with the federal government. The revised rates have been established and are available on the Financial Analysis website.

Fringe benefits include such items as Social Security, University retirement programs, life insurance, health insurance, and disability insurance. These amounts vary by type of appointment according to the schedule provided by the Fringe Benefit Pool Rates. If there are questions concerning which rate to use, please email us at dsp@uiowa.edu
